The bodybuilding and crossfit in Iceland is very popular amongst both man and women. Crossfit was made in 2000 by Greg Glassman and Lauren Jenai. Crossfit incorporate elements from many sports like gymnastics, weightlifting and calisthenics. There are many icelandic women very good at crossfit like Anníe Mist Þórisdóttir. Anníe Mist competed in crossfit for the first time in 2009 and than one year later she won the europe games and than in 2011 she won the europe games, the world games and the crossfit open. She has won the crossfit games twice, in 2011 and in 2012. She isn't the only Icelandic woman who has won the crossfit games. Katrín Davíðsdóttir was born on 10th May 1993. She won the games in 2015 and in 2016.

Bodybuilding in Iceland. Iceland is home to some of the strongest men on earth like the infamous Jón Páll aka The Viking. The Viking set quite a few records in his career from a 400kg deadlift to the 3000 pound wheelbarrow push for 3,06 meters in the Arnold Strongman competition. Jón unfortunately passed away on 16 January 1993 due to cardiac arrest which was common in his family. Years later a new Icelandic giant stepped in his footsteps, commonly referred to as The Mountain, a 6ft 9inch/2.06m tower of a man also known as Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson. Hafþór is a 29 year old bodybuilder and actor, he has starred in the extremely popular hbo show Game Of Thrones where he plays Ser Gregor Clegane aka The Mountain. Hafþór has won europe's strongest man 3 times the past four years but ended in 2nd place in 2016.
