The Icelandic male national team was founded in 1912. They played their first match on July 29. 1930 against Faroe Islands which they won 1-0 but it was a friendly. Their first official match was against Denmark on the 17th of July in 1946 which they lost 3-0. The Icelandic national team has never been something special, they have been for the most part pretty bad until Lars Lagerback came and took over in 2011. Then they were starting to get better and 2016 they were the smallest ever nation to qualify for a major tournament. In the tournament they won England 2-1 but then they lost to France 5-2.

The first match they played was against Scotland and the girls lost 3-2 and they were sad but that didn't stop them from trying their best and winning games.
