In Iceland, we have a big variety of sports that kids and teenagers can practice. Even kids from the age of four years old can participate in many sports, for example, handball, soccer, and gymnastics. These sports are very popular here in Iceland and the national teams in these sports have been very successful. Both our female and male soccer teams have qualified for the European championship. Iceland is the smallest country to qualify for the World cup in male soccer. When our male handball team competed in the Olympics in 2008 they won silver. There is no particular national team in gymnastics here in Iceland but we have two very large and promising teams, Gerpla and Stjarnan.
